Thayer Birding Software was founded in 1994 by Peter W. Thayer. The original offices were located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company moved to Naples, Florida in April, 1998.
Online Nature Mall was created in 2005. It features over 8,500 nature items. An affiliate program is available at OnlineNatureMall.
OnlineNatureMall.com replaced WithoutBricks.com on June 1, 2005.

Mr. Thayer is a 1967 graduate of Fort Atkinson (Wisconsin) High School, a 1971 graduate of the University of Wisconsin (BBA - Finance, Investments and Banking) and a 1973 graduate of the Harvard Business School (MBA - Finance).
Mr. Thayer worked as a financial analyst in the Trust Investment Department of Union Planters Bank in Memphis, Tennessee from 1973 to 1977. From 1977 to 1995, Mr. Thayer was president of Gateway Investment Advisers, Cincinnati, Ohio where he managed the Gateway Fund (GATEX), one of the top-ranked Mutual Funds (on a risk-adjusted basis). He became a Charted Financial Analyst in 1978. Mr. Thayer has appeared as a guest on many financial TV shows and has been featured in numerous business magazines and newspapers including Newsweek, Business Week, Money magazine, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal. In 1995 Mr. Thayer sold his 54% interest in Gateway Investment Advisers to Alex Brown & Sons (Baltimore).
He has been president of Thayer Birding Software since 1994. Mr. Thayer is an avid birder and has seen 3,689 species on seven continents (but who's counting?)
He has written over 30 articles for various financial publications -- and one for Bird Watcher's Digest.
Mr. Thayer is a member of the Board of Directors of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, a national, non-profit nature educational organization in Jamestown, New York.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Leupold & Stevens, a privately held optics company in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Thayer is the webmaster and author of WildBirds.com, ThayerBirding.com, ilovebirds.com and OnlineNatureMall.com.
