The family Timaliidae includes 1 species found in North America.

Babblers are found in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The Wrentit, isolated in the scrublands west of the Rocky Mountains, is the only member of the Babbler Family that long ago reached the New World. Wrentits hop about in shrubbery gleaning bark surfaces and eating insects and berries. They rarely go to the ground. The cup-shaped nest is built by both sexes. Eggs are 4 pale green-blue. Incubation mostly by female is 15-16 days.
